Anjula Mutanda
Consultant psychological therapist and Career Expert

Senior Practitioner Anjula Mutanda is a consultant psychology and mental health expert, agony aunt, relationship therapist and lifestyle coach with a wealth of experience over 15 years in a diversity of settings. Before television she worked in university settings, as a clinical therapist with students who were experiencing psychological and emotional challenges. She also worked as a careers expert in the city for six years, including after the last recession, helping people reinvent their lives when they lost their jobs. Anjula trained in Critical Incident stress debriefing which was put to excellent use following the Bishopsgate bombing and the Ladbroke Grove train disaster. Anjula has used her post-trauma training to also help victims of rape and assault. She made her debut in 2000 when she appeared on the very first series of Big Brother as a Counselling Psychology expert. Since then she has been invited onto numerous shows as an expert commentator including GMTV, The Wright Stuff, Loose Women, Generation Xcess, How to Find a Husband, How Gay are you? for Sky One and The Truth about Beauty for UKTV Style. Anjula was offered the role of Resident Psychologist on ITV's flagship daytime show This Morning in 2003 and has been with the team ever since, but she isn't exclusive to them and still appears regularly on The Wright Stuff on Five and elsewhere. Her TV experience is incredibly diverse, mirroring her own versatility and depth of experience and knowledge. She recently presented How to Have Sex After Marriage on Five, which was "Pick of the Day" in several papers every week. She was also co-anchor on Five's Doctor Doctor with Dr Mark Porter, expert presenter on CITV's Feel the Fear - a show about phobias for children, and expert presenter on prime time BBC1's Family Contract. Anjula was the agony aunt on Mizz Magazine as well as Reveal Magazine. She regularly contributes to magazines and newspapers including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, The Mail, The Mirror and The Sun. She advises and works with a very wide range of corporate organisations as a psychology and relationship expert including The National Lottery, Sainsbury's and TK Maxx. Anjula has excellent experience in radio and was the expert on 12 part relationship series for BBC World Service The Art of Loving. She also wrote and presented a programme for BBC Radio 4 Diversity Works. Anjula trained at Durham University and following a distinction in her research work went on to work with British Airways as a clinical therapist. She received her accreditation in January 2000 and was one of the youngest accredited practitioners in the UK. She now holds the status of Senior Practitioner MBACP. Anjula was named in the Asian hot list in the Daily Mail October 2006 Her first self-help book Celebrity Life Laundry was published in January 2007. She currently writes a regular column for More Magazine. |
